ESR8: Low-losses integrated waveguides

Closed call – position assigned
Jena

Enrolled fellow: Diego Guzmán

Start date: 1 May 2014
Supervisor: Dr Alexander Szameit
Host Institution: University of Jena – FSU Jena
Duration: 36 months

Objectives:
Fabrication of chip-based waveguide elements and full circuits for single- and multi-photon manipulation

Tasks and methodology:
Design of the waveguide structures
Implementation on-chip using laser direct-writing
Experimental characterization of the fabricated chips

Description:
Candidates should be highly motivated to work withultrafast femto-second lasers for the sample fabrication as well as single photon settings for the characterization of the waveguide circuits. The design, implementation and characterization of integrated photonic devices for quantum applications require the combination of know-how in the fields of integrated optics, quantum optics as well as quantum information science.

How to apply:
The application of interested candidates should include a letter of motivation, a detailed CV and the contact addresses for two references.
